Currently, SME has two disciplines, management science and engineering and control science and intelligent engineering. The discipline of Management Science and Engineering was approved in 2002 by the Degree Committee of the State Council to be a first-level discipline and to run Ph.D. programs. It was rated as a Jiangsu Key Discipline in 2006 and was also listed in Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Disciplines Project (Phase 2 in 2016 and Phase 3 in 2018).

The discipline of control science and intelligent engineering was approved in 2002 by the Degree Committee of the State Council to be a second-level discipline and to run master’s programs.
